Chengdu TourChengdu is richly endowed with fantastic natural resources and historical heritages. Within the city proper, numbers of ancient temples, parks and cultural relics are telling you the time-honored past of the city. The most thrilling sights in this area however, are mainly located outside the town. As Chengdu is home to China's living treasures--Giant Pandas, a visit to the Giant Panda Research and Breeding Center should come first. Be sure to bring your camera and have an intimate contact with these lovely creatures. Around 40-minute drive away, the majestic Dujiangyang Irrigation System is waiting to arouse your admiration. This world's oldest surviving grand-scale irrigation infrastructure is still in use today. A little further from the city, the Buddhist mountain of Mount Emei and towering Leshan Giant Buddha will offer the best opportunity to experience both man-made and natural wonders. Chengdu city is also noted for its leisure life style. Many old traditions of this ancient city are still alive. Killing the time in a quaint teahouse and watching brisk Sichuan Opera, you seem to step back into a past age. When night falls, wandering through the Kuan-Zhai Lane or Jinli Ancient Street, you will find yourself totally immersed in an exotic blend of the vibrant nightlife and a deeper understanding of the old Chengdu.
