6 Days Chengdu Panda Volunteer and Impression Tour

Upon arrival you will be welcomed by your guide at the Chengdu Airport, and transfered to local hotel. Free at leisure for the rest of the day. After a short rest, you can walk around the hotel to experience local life. Chengdu is famous for its decious snack, so don't miss the street food.

In the evening we specially perpare a Sichuan Opera Show for your option. You can appreciate an authentic Face Changing performance on spot, how excited it is! (The admission for the show is excluded.) The Sichuan Opera is an important part of Chengdu culture. Besides the normal singing, and martial arts, Sichuan Opera has many unique features that set it apart, features such as fire breathing, changing faces, and juggling pottery. When enjoying the performance, you will amaze at different facial make-ups that are changed fast and mysteriously.

Tonight you will stay at hotel in Chengdu.

Today you will visit attractions in the city center.

First you will feel relax to explore Jinli Old Street for local tea house, night life, art crafts and snacks. In the traditional atmosphere, you will enjoy the delicious Sichuan food and snacks and learn the local remarkable folk culture.

The second stop is Wuhou Memorial Temple, which is built as a tribute to Zhuge Liang, the Martial Marquis of Shu during the Three Kingdoms Period. You may strool around the peaceful and attractive gardens, and visit several halls, including one dedicated to his memory and another to that of his emperor Liu Bei. Then you will learn more about China ancient culture.

Then we will proceed to visit the Wenshu Temple where you can spend some time sitting in its tea house enjoying a cup of traditional Chinese tea and absorb the special atmosphere of Chengdu.

Today's last scenic spot is Du Fu's Thatched Roof Cottage, which is regarded as a sacred site of Chinese literature. It is the former residence of the celebrated Tang dynasty poet Du Fu who wrote some of his masterpieces there. In this site, you can enjoy fine Chinese calligraphy and know more about Chinese literature.

After breakfast we drive you to Leshan to visit the spectacular Leshan Giant Buddha, which is the largest Buddha statue in the world with over 233 feet in height and 28 feet in width. Its age is over 900 years. Also it was included by UNESCO on the list of the World Heritage sites. Carving of the giant statue begun in the Tang Dynasty took more than 90 years.  You will catch a tour boat to sightsee the Giant Buddha, and also climb up the mountain to have a close touch with it. You will be amazed not only by its great size but also by its architectural artistry.

Afterwards move on to the Mount Emei, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is the highest of China's four holy Buddhist mountains. Visit the ancient Baoguo Temple at the foot of the mountain. You will see its most famous historical relics, the 25-ton bronze Bell, reputedly the second-largest bell in China (after Beijing's Great Bell), and enjoy the bell's deep sound.  These precious Buddhist cultural relics will take you back years long past.

Tonight you will stay in the hotel located at the foot of the mountain.

On this day, you will continue your tour of Mount Emei. In the moring take the cable car up the mountain to visit the famous Wannian Temple. You will appreciate its three treasures, Beamless Hall, bronze statue of Bodhisattva Puxian and the Buddha's tooth. Then you will carry the cable car down the mountain.

Afterwards you will head to Bifengxia Panda Breeding Centre. This is the world's largest giant panda's park and the best place to see pandas in the natural environment they inhabit. After appreciating the beautiful mountain scenery, you will watch documentary films about giant pandas to learn more about their liveing habit. Tonight you will stay at hotel in Ya'an.

Today you will continue to be volunteer at Bifengxia Panda Breeding Centre. Then you will work with experienced veterinarians to prepare food for pandas. You will clean the panda's living area and the young panda's play area, and remove waste and bamboo leaves to make a better enviroment for them. In addition to these activities you also have the chance to play with lovely panda cubs. For safety reasons each volunteer will also be shadowed by a local staff member at all times. At the end, you will be issued a certificate in honor of your volunteering work at the base. This is really an impressive experience!

You will spend tonight at hotel in Ya'an.

Your local guide will escort you to the airport for your next destination. Wish you a nice journey!
