Along the Yangtze River, you will pass many ancient cities in southern China, enjoy the natural spectacles of Three Gorges, Three Gorges Dam, Lesser Three Gorges or Shennong Stream, and take shore excursions to many famous scenic spots. Please note that the scenic spots and the whole journey may be adjusted due to the weather or the conditions of water.
The high season refers to April, May, September and October in which the weather is at its most temperate and most suitable to take the cruise and the prices are the highest. The winter season refers to December, January and February in which only few ships have sailings and the prices are the lowest. The rest of the months belong to shoulder seasons.
The period of the Yangtze River Cruises varies from 3 nights 4 days to 8 nights 9 days, according to the different sailing routes. Among them, the most popular downstream cruises are from from Chongqing to Yichang (3 nights 4 days) or Chongqing to Jingzhou (4 nights and 5 days) and the most popular upstream cruise is from Yichang to Chongqing (4 nights 5 days) or from Jiangzhou to Chongqing ( 5 nights 6 days). Some cruise company will extend the itinerary from Chongqing down to Shanghai, which is 7-day cruise in total.
First of all, you choose your preferred ship with preferred route for the Yangtze Cruise, like Chongqing to/from Yichang or Chongqing to/from Shanghai. Select your desired cabin type after checking the dates and prices. Dont't forget to declare your nationality since price differs from different markets and there may be some special promotion.
And then you fill in your personal information, contact details and other requirements. After receiving your booking request, our attentive trip advisor will contact you via e-mail and assist you in finding a ship that fits you. Please do feel no hesitation to inquire anything about your trip.

Please note that the payment for the Yangtze River Cruise will not be refunded if the cancellation notice is received less than 30 days prior to the starting date of cruise. And if your cancellation is confirmed, your refund, minus the payment transaction fee, will be credited to your account within the next two weeks as of the date we receive your written cancellation request. At all events, your cancellation fee will be less than or equal to your full payment if cancellation made within 30 days prior to departure date of cruise. No-show travelers will be charged 100% of the full payment. After the trip has begun, there will be no refund for unused services due to your early departure, late arrival, or missed days on cruises.
Please note that the Yangtze River cruise companies set different price plans for different markets, and there may be special promotion especially for guests from certain countries. Your providing of nationality when booking will help the booking go smoother and easier as well as get better deals.
Normally all the cabins are arranged by the ship company at random. If guests wish to designate cabins at a specific floor, a Fee for Floor Designation will be charged and it differs from one cruise company to another. Please ask our Trip Advisor for more details on booking.
Yes, each cruise ship provides baby and chil strollers and chairs, child care, etc. for your convenience. You can apply for an extra bed for the baby/young child or share a cabin with the older ones. Extra charges will be applied according to different ships and different cabins, and usually there will be a discount for the young. Please consult our trip advisor for more details.
3-1. What's the weather like in the Yangtze River in general?
The gorgy topography features strong wind, humid and less sunshine. The average temperature reaches 30 C in July and 10 C in January. Spring and autumn are therefore the best seasons for making the river cruises. In summers, dramatic thunderstorms and torrential rains often happen and heavy rainfalls cause the high water level between July and September (Which is usually coincided with the Flood Season on the cruising itineraries). The winters are short and cold.
3-2. What clothes shall I bring when making a Yangtze River cruise?
No special formal dresses are required on the ship. Wear what you like, but when you have a shore excursion or enjoy scenery on the top ship deck, be sure to take proper clothes to protect you from the hot sun in summer and strong wind in winter. As there are two formal nights on the ship we suggest men to bring a coat & tie and the ladies a dress or pantsuit.
4-1. Which dock/pier should I go?
After you have reserved and finished payment for the Yangtze River Cruise, we will send you a confirmation letter with all details including the embarking dock/pier.
If you book a cruise package with us, escorting service will be offerred to/from the dock/pier by local guide.
4-2. Will the private tour guide accompany with us while on board?
No. We purchase cruise tickets for you, but all activities onboard are arranged by the cruise company. Your private tour guide will not accompany with you during the cruise. And there is river guide on board offer excellent service for you.
Generally speaking, dinners are not served on the boarding day if the embarking hours are in the evening. If you are boarding the cruise ship in the evening at Chongqing, you don't have to go here and there looking for restaurants. You may dine at a restaurant named “Hua Qing Yuan” (in Chinese 华清源) for local cuisine and Chinese dishes, right across the road of the boarding site of the ship. Or you can enjoy a western dinner in the next-door coffee shop.
Generally speaking, you should settle you accounts and check out at the front desk before breakfast. You may use cash in various currencies, including RMB, traveler's checks, American Express, Master Card and Visa. Please note that personal checks are not accepted.
Almost all the 4 to 5 star ships require a compulsory ship tip. Some are required when you book the ship and some when you check in at the reception counter. Please kindly follow our trip advisors' guide and thanks for your understanding.
Not all the water onboard is safe to drink. Drinkable water includes bottled water and all water and ice in the club and dining room. Please DO NOT drink the tap water.
Beer and some soft drinks are free of charge on the ship, while wines are not. You may bring some if necessary, since drinks onboard can be quite expensive. Please note there is a corkage fee for beverages not purchased onboard and consumed in the public areas (e.g. at restaurants, bars, cafes).
Smoking allowed ONLY on outer decks. Please ask your cabin attendant for an ashtray.
Yes, professional medical service is available on board. Every ship has a doctor on call.
Not all ships have wifi, but there will be internet center or business center to offer the service (Paid service, price differs from ships.) On some ships, you can purchase a card that will allow you to access the internet for your entire trip. Please consult our trip advisor to check details.
Laundry service is generally available including washing and ironing but no dry cleaning on board.
As for hair-dryer, not all ships have one in each room, but it is available at the front desk and you can borrow for free.
Generally speaking, there is the mini-safe in the standard cabins on most of the ships. If the safe is not available, please consult inquiry office on the ship.
Yes. Electrical outlets and adapters are available at the front desk.
Normally the ships offer buffet breakfast, while lunch and dinner are both buffet and set dinner. A La Carte Restaurants are available on some of the ships. If you have any diet habit, please kindly let our trip advisors know, so that according arrangement can be made in advance.
When you are having the shore excursion to the Lesser Three Gorges, you board a ferry to sail along the tributary of the Yangtze. And you are suggested to bring: camera, film, hat, binoculars, bottled water. The ferry has simple restroom facilities.
1. Fengdu is a city built on the top of a hill and there are approximately 180 steps to climb before you get there. Please note that there is a cable car chair lift for 20 RMB roundtrip / 15 RMB one direction to get to the top of the hill. You also can take the stairs up / down.
2. When you go ashore to the Fengdu, you are suggested to wear good walking shoes, and in summer time, bring sunglasses and mosquito repellent to make your trip more enjoyable.
On a cruise, it is after you whether you'll have the shore excursion. You may do what you want. You can do it all or just relax on the deck.
