Day 1 Arrival in Wuyishan City

Today's Activities

Upon setting foot in Wuyishan City, you will be greeted by our local tour guide at the airport or train station, and then be escorted to your hotel for checking in. Today is free for your own arrangement. You can take a good rest at your hotel, or have a stroll around and get a first peek of the city.

The city was named after its major mountain – Wuyishan (Mt. Wuyi), a World Cultural & Natural Heritage recognized by UNESCO. Wuyishan Mountain is one of the most outstanding subtropical forests in the world, known for its jade-like rivers and Danxia landform, and it's also the cradle of Neo-Confucianism.

Day 2 Wuyishan (Breakfast,Lunch)

Today's Activities

After enjoy a buffet breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel and set out for a full-day exploration of Wuyishan National Resort. To hold the elegance and beauty of Wuyishan at one time, take a relaxing bamboo raft drifting following the bends of Jiuqu Xi (Nine-Bend River), one of the highlights of the Mountain. The cruise takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. Following is a visit to Wuyi Palace, the oldest palace on Wuyishan with over 1,000 years' history. A 300-meter-long Song Dynasty Street running south to north is one feature of the Wuyi Palace, displaying the architectural characteristics of Song Dynasty (A.D. 960-1279). Tea, bamboo and ancient culture are what you can found & enjoy here.

After lunch, head for the summit of Wuyishan - Tianyou Peak (Heavenly Tour Peak) where you will hold a bird's eye view of Wuyishan Resort. Feel the fresh air and savor the splendid landscape of Wuyishan. Afterwards, take a tour to the wonderful Yunwo (Clouds Nest) and Tea Cave.

Later the driver will take you back to the hotel. Dinner is for your own arrangement.

Day 3 Wuyishan (Breakfast,Lunch)

Today's Activities

After breakfast, you will set out for the Dahongpao Tourist Zone for a taste of the best quality oolong tea and learn some knowledge of the tea culture of Fujian. Lunch is a special Mt. Wuyi Mr. Wengong Cuisine reserved at a local restaurant.

The rest of the day is at your own hand to explore the charm of Wuyishan. Later you are transferred to the airport/ train station for your onward flight/train. Wish you a good journey.

Fujian Food & Snacks:

Fujian food is one of the Eight Culinary Traditions in China, and its snacks are also very popular nationwide. Fujian style cuisine is known to be light but flavourful, soft and tender, as well as retaining the original flavour of the main ingredients instead of masking them.

Notable dishes include:
(1) Fo Tiao Qiang (Buddha Jumps Over the Wall): a complex dish making use of many ingredients, including shark fin, sea cucumber, abalone, and Shaoxing wine.
(2) Yanpi & Rouyan: Yanpi is a thin wrapper made with large proportions of lean pork. It's used to make Rouyan, a type of wonton.
(3) Oyster Omelette: Omelette with oyster filling. Also popular in Taiwan.
(4) Tusun Dong (Sipunculid Worm Jelly): an aspic made with a species of marine peanut worm. Especially famous in Xiamen.

Wuyishan Resort is a quite ipressive geological park and we enjoyed our trip. The bamboo rafts riding along the Jiuqu Stream is really wonderful. It's not the fierce type I thought, but gentle and pleasant. Life jackets were provided. Watching the strange rock formations is interesting.

The fujian hakka Tulou is really amazing! Our guide told us that the large ones can hold 60-80 families! The building itself is interesting. I wonder if next time I can stay overnight at Tulou, lol. Local people are very friendly also, though they can hardly speak English.
