Mt. Huashan is renowned for its natural vista of steep and narrow paths, precipitous crags and a high mountain range. It is located in the Shaanxi Province of China, standing to the south of Huayin City, 75 miles due east of Xi'an. Mt. Hua is one of the Five Great Mountains in China. The other four are Mt. Taishan in Shangdong, Mt. Hengshan in Hunan, Mt. Hengshan in Shanxi, and Mt. Songshan in Henan.
Mt. Huashan features five peaks that resemble to five petals of a flower. It's also home to several influential Taoist temples where emperors of past dynasties made pilgrims, making this mountain the holy land of Taoism. Formerly the five peaks were dotted with temples but today only a few remain. These days Mt. Hua are still trekked by devoted pilgrims and monks intentioned on visiting the sacred shrines, as well as youth on vacation for the majestic scenery.
