 Daily Itinerary
Day 1   Beijing to Datong Transfer by train

Our tour guide will meet you at the airport and show you the Temple of Heaven in Beijing then you will take overnight train to Datong.

Temple of Heaven:

This temple complex was ever a place for the emperor to worship heaven; an architectural wonder featuring the triple-roofed Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest.


Day 2   Datong to Pingyao (B,L) Transfer by bus

Our tour guide will meet you at the train station. After breakfast, you will visit Nine Dragon Screen, Yungang Grottoes and Hanging Temple in Datong. Then you will be transferred to Pingyao by bus.

Nine Dragon Screen:

The oldest, largest and most impressive glazed screen in China, an amazing display of superb craftwork that the intense art-lover or casual fan will not want to miss.

Yungang Grottoes:

With a series of 53 caves and over 51,000 majestic sculptures, it's a treasure trove of grotto art that combines Chinese ancient Buddhist art and superb skills of the craftsmen.

Hanging Temple:

Perched precariously on a near-vertical cliff of Hengshan Mountain, this architectural wonder will arouse your sense of adventure and curiosity and leaves you dumbfounded.


Day 3   Pingyao  (B,L)

Our tour guide will show you around the city in the morning then lead you to the Shuanglin Temple in the afternoon

Shuanglin Temple:

This Buddhist temple enjoys a high reputation in China's history of art, by featuring exquisitely painted clay sculptures of Tang, Song, Jin and Yuan Dynasties.


Day 4   Pingyao to Beijing via Taiyuan   (B,L) Transfer by car and train

Our tour guide will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you to Taiyuan by bus. You will visit 2 famous attractions on the way: Qiao Family Mansion and Jin Ancestral Temple. Then you will take overnight train to Beijing

Qiao Family Mansion:

Used to be the residence of one of Shanxi's tycoons, this massive and castle-like mansion will give you an idea of the day-to-day life of upper class Chinese of centuries ago.

Jin Ancestral Temple:

Originally as a memorial to the founder of the state of Jin; built by expert artisans from a variety of dynasties, this is a famous architectural and gardening masterpiece in China.


Day 5   Beijing  (B,L,D)

After breakfast you will enjoy a whole day tour to Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City and Hutong. Taste the Peking Roast Duck at dinner time after a short break at the hotel.

The Tian'anmen Square: As a symbol of the nation, this world's largest city square is home to various historical sites and known for the daily ritualistic flag raising ceremony.

The Forbidden City:

One of the world's most beautiful architectural complexes, served as China's imperial palace for almost five centuries; you will be overwhelmed by its massive scale and majestic design.

Hutong Tours in Rickshaw:

Leaving the bustling city streets, stepping into the maze-like hutongs and deep courtyards, you'll get a true taste of Beijinger's life and seem to travel back in time.


Day 6    Beijing  (B,L)

Today, you will be able to see the world's great architectures of both ancient and modern times: the Great Wall and the Olympic Stadium of Beijing: Bird Nest, with the bonus tour to Dingling, Sacred Road and Water Cube.

Great Wall at Badaling: The best-preserved and most imposing section of the Great wall; approximately 3,741m long and of great strategic importance in ancient times.
Sacred Way: The most famous site at the Ming imperial tombs, being the main road leading into the tomb complexes, featuring the huge Memorial Stone Archway, the Stele Pavilion, the Stone Creatures and the Dragon and Phoenix Gate.
Olympic Stadium (Bird Nest): The nest-shaped elliptic steel structure is hailed as "an icon of the Beijing 2008 Olympics" and has become a recognized landmark worldwide.

National Aquatics Center

(Water Cube) :

The outlook being a semi-transparent "cube", with "bubbles" spread out all over its surface; believed as the fastest Olympic pool in the world, swimmers set 25 new world records here during the 2008 Olympics.

Day 7   Depart Beijing (B,L)   

Today you will spend a half day to visit the royal garden of Summer Palace. And then after lunch, you will be transferred to the airport for your next destination.

Summer Palace:

Used to be the imperial summer resort; ranked among the most noted and classical gardens of the world, it never fails to leave you a lasting impression.
