Today's Activities | Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. Tour guide will pick up all guests from downtown hotels between 8:00 and 8:30, and then set out for your Xi'an downtown tour. Start with History at Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a Buddhist temple dating back to 652A.D. You will enjoy the architectural elegance of the Buddhist buildings, as well as discover the legends of Hierarch Xuanzang and his 16-year pilgrimage to India for the Buddhist culture, which later inspired one of the Four Great Classical Novels in Chinese literature - Journey to the West. Then take a leisure stroll on top of the Ancient City Wall and enjoy an overview of the downtown Xi'an. It is the best preserved of its kind in China, with a height of 12m and width (upper part) of 15m. After lunch, take a further exploration of the culture and history with a visit to the Shaanxi History Museum, where a collection of over 300,000 ancient items from Bronze Age to Modern times are displayed for you. What a marvelous treasure stove! Later move to the Bell Tower and Drum Tower Square, symbols of the city and once used for timing: The Bell was stricken at dawn to indicate the start of the day, while the Drum was beat at dusk to mark the end of the day. Followed up is the nearby Muslim Quarter, which is the main gathering place for the local Muslim community. There are lots of shops with exotic souvenirs and snacks for your enjoyment. Around 18:00, the guide will escort you back to the hotel. |

Xi'an features distinctive cuisines of China Northwest, such as various-shaped Chinese dumplings and other wheaten food. Muslim Quarter gathers lots of delicious local food like Rou Jia Mo and shish kebabs, etc.
(1) Here we highly recommend Chinese Dumpling Dinner, which also named Jiaozi, typically consist of a ground meat and/or vegetable filling wrapped into a thinly rolled piece of dough, which is then sealed by pressing the edges together or by crimping. As a must-try for visitors, it serves with Tang dynasty show. And it belongs to an [add on] item in the tour.
(2) Rou Jia Mo, also called Chinese Hamburger, is very similar to the Western hamburger essentially, but with different cooking method.
