Today's Activities | The private car takes you through the greenery-covered Ersha Island and out to the core of modern Guangzhou, Flower City Square. Dwarfing everything are the group of state-of-the-art skyscrapers like Guangzhou Opera House, Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou Library, Children’s Palace, West Tower, etc. Afterwards the car steers away from the downtown to the old area around Litchi Bay. You can slow down a little to appreciate the rich décor at Renwei Temple. In Litchi Bay you’ll have a close look into the old lifestyle of Cantonese. The locals boat downstream in vintage-looking boats, riverside Xiguan Mansions sell home-made snacks, on-the-river theater spreads melody of Cantonese Opera through your ears, everything looks so abundant in history and culture. Next you’re going to meet a historic figure, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, at his memorial hall. Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Father of Republic of China (1912-1949), linked Guangzhou intensely with his lifetime revolutionary cause and thus made Guangzhou a heroic city. If you’re much interested in what he performed, you would know more via the exhibition inside the hall; if not, you can still marvel at the magnificent building, the grant bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the graceful application of colors into the exterior and the stately interior arena.
