West lake boasts various views in four seasons. In summer you can see the enormous area of lotus blossoms whereas in winter you’ll be addicted to the snowcapped bridges and pavilions. Have a boat cruise on the serene lake. You’ll be listening to the love story of the White Snake entrantress and the mortal Xu Xian (one of the four folk stories in China) while cruising past the iconic sunset-redden Leifeng Pagoda, under which the White Snake entrantress suffers confinement as the legend goes. The boat also takes you to another spot Three Pools Mirroring the Moon. Let your guide show you a RMB 1 note and you’ll find the amazing picture of Three Pools Mirroring the Moon on its backside! Later you will take a side trip to Dragon Well Tea Village, where you could know more about tea-making process (tea planting) and Chinese tea culture. The tea village also provides a fabulous distant view of the mountains that parade around West Lake. Then drive back to the downtown hotel and spend a good Hangzhou night. |

Today's Activities | Today’s tour begins with the 1,600-year-old Lingyin Temple that hides itself at a mountainous corner of West Lake scenic spot. The temple features a large number of grottos and religious rock carvings, the most famous of which is the incredible Flying Peak. Then let’s move on to Six Harmonies Pagoda, a masterpiece of ancient Chinese architecture built to calm the tidal waters of Qiantang River and aid in navigation. Steer to Hu Qingyu Tang Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum to explore the mysterious and interesting system of traditional Chinese pharmacy. The museum is based on a gorgeous architectural compound of an old pharmacy shop whose owner was one of the wealthiest businessmen in late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). You’ll have your eyes wide open at the display of a myriad of valuable Chinese herbal materials and the hand-operated process by skilled pharmaceutical workers. The last stop is Hefang Street,a unique pedestrian street displaying Chinese crafts and local snacks. You can have a great time appreciating paper cutting and hand-made dough figurines, or feast on dazzling local snacks like roasted walnuts and dragon-whisker candy.
