9 Days Guizhou Guilin Minority Villages Exploration Tour

Wish you a good journey to Guiyang, and our guide will meet you outside the customs of Guiyang Airport after you clear the customs, and then transfer you to Kaili to check in the downtown hotel. The rest of the day is flexible for your will, have a rest or take a walk near the hotel. We recommend you to strool around night market to experience local life. You can taste the delicious street food and appreciate the delicate handicraft made by local minority people. Tonight you will stay at hotel in Kaili.

After breakfast, drive to visit Wangba Gejia Village. The Gejia although classified as Miao are in fact a separate group. You will enter the village to appreciate the beautiful mountain scenery and get close touch with local people to understand Gejia's featured custom. After the visit, spend about 40 minutes to hike down the hill. On the way the wonderful country scenery will feast your eyes.

After lunch in Chong' An River, transfer to explore the Jidao Long-Skirt Miao Village, located in the border of Kaili and Leishan county. It is a well-preserved village with strong Miao flavor, and is well-known for old Miao folk song, granaries, and bluestone roads. You will also visit a local family to get a close touch with the Miao people's life. Tonight you will stay in the local family. 

Today's Activities

Today our first stop is the Paika Miao Village. You will see the scenery of spring ploughing and autumn harvest. Then enter the village to visit local people for appreciating how the Lusheng is made. Lusheng is the Miao people's most important musical instrument.

Afterwards, we will visit the famous Datang Short-Skirt Miao Village, where women have worn a kind of traditional short skirt for 500 years. Another highlight in this village is the granary built over a pond with the multi-function of fire-proofing, rat-proofing and ant-proofing.

After having lunch in Qingman Miao Village, you will explore this beautiful village. Different from others, all women here are wearing unique short skirts. Then, we will take a side-trip to Shiqiao Miao Village to see China mysterious Traditional Paper-making process, which is a big attraction nowadays to travelers. At last we will drive back to hotel at Rongjiang.

Today's Activities

In the morning, reach Congjiang County to visit Basha Miao Village, which is reputed as the 'Last Gunmen's Tribe in China', for almost all the adult male villagers usually carry hunting guns on their shoulders and gunpowder bags, bullet bags and knives around their waists. Besides, the male villagers' distinctive hair dresses are known as the existing most ancient style in China.

Afterwards, drive to Zhaoxing. In the afternoon, you will explore Zhaoxing Dong Village - the largest Dong People's Village in Qiandongnan area, and Tang'an Dong People's Village - the first ecological museum of Dong people. You will find many wooden stilt houses standing one by one as well as charming Drum Towers in the villages.

And the scenes of farming and the beautiful village scenery will feast your eyes with a pure country life style, which is a nice experience. Tonight you will stay at the hotel in Zhaoxing.

After breakfast you will hike uphill to appreciate the world-famous Longji Terraces - Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces. There are about 66 square kilometers of terraced fields in the district. Leisure time for you to walk along the mountain road, and you will be intoxicated in its fantastic scenery. If you don't want to climb all the way up to the top of the mountain, there are sedan chairs available for you.

Then you will head to Jinkeng Rice Terraces, which is higher, wider, and more beautiful, spectacular than Longji Terraces. And there are two Yao villages in Jinkeng Rice Terraces. You will first visit the village at the foot of the mountain - Dazai Village. There you can appreciate the unique Yao minority's buildings, which are nestled against the breathtaking man-made wonder. The layout of the village mimics the terraces fields symmetry, giving an appearance that the houses are stacked on top of one another- an integrated part of the land. Climbing up the hill for 60 minutes, you will arrive Tiantouzai Village, where you will have a panoramic view of the whole area of Jinkeng Rice Terrace. Recommend you to have a rest in a small cafeteria " Countryside Cafe", the only place where English menu is available.

In the afternoon we will drive to Guilin for checking in. After short rest in hotel, you can walk around the hotel to appreciate beautiful night scenery of Guilin.

(Note: Spring , in May and June, is the best time, when the amazing green rice terraces are filled with water. Autumn, in Sept.and Oct. , offers a different color of the striking rice terraces. )

On this day you will visit famous Scenic Spots of Guilin. First, you will be dazzled in the Reed Flute Cave, which is known as "the Palace of Natural Arts". You can enjoy beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. 

Then you will wonder at the the symbol of Guilin, Elephant Trunk Hill, which is is shaped like a huge elephant drinking water from the river.

After enjoying the classic of karst landscape you will exclaim at the cute giant panda in the Seven Star Park, which is the biggest park of Guilin. Tonight you will stay at the hotel in Guilin.

After breakfast, you will be transfered to the Zhujiang Pier. From the dock let's start the fascinating Li River Cruise. During the next 4 hours, you will wonder at the splendid scenery of Guilin landscape. Meanwhile, you'll enjoy a delicious local lunch buffet.

At 13:30 you will arrive at the Yangshuo Dock. Your tour guide will rent a bicycle for you to head for Zhaoyang.  On the way you can feast your eyes on the beautiful landscape. Then you arrive in Zhaoyang, where the part of rafting begins, just enjoy the 1-hour rafting along Yulong River, the main tributary of Li River. Sitting or laying on the raft, you will feel as wandering in a roll of Chinese landscape painting. In addition, you can see buffaloes swimming in rivers and how the local farmers work on the riverside farmland. Tonight you will stay at the hotel in Yangshuo.
